Hi-Store at Rolls Royce

Storage solution specialist Hi-Store was commissioned to work in partnership with surface treatment engineers Eltropuls (GB) in a challenging project for Rolls Royce Aerospace at its Derby site.

An innovative solution in the form of an access platform was needed to improve accessibility in the recently expanded heat treatment facility where four furnaces, supplied by Eltropuls (GB), are to be used to prepare turbine components for their aircraft engines.

Hi-Store’ís expert design team, in consultation with heat treatment specialists from Etlropuls (GB), achieved the perfect solution for Rolls Royce, by installing a 130 square metre dual decking system at the purpose built site.

The access platform supplied by Hi-Store consisted of 40 square metres of aluminium tread plate and 90 square metres of open mesh panelling, with supporting structural steelwork finished in ivory cream. This innovative design fulfilled Rolls Royce’s requirements for a solution that enabled its turbine component engineers to have easy access to all parts of the 5 metre high furnaces, as well as the electrical power supply system. This is enabled by simply moving the mesh panelling which also help to cool the working facility.

Hi-Store’s award winning installation team, in conjunction with Eltropuls (GB), completed the relocation and expansion project to timescale. This excellent service contributed towards the overall success of the project where meeting deadlines was a vital factor in enabling minimum disruption at the Derby site.
